All-New 2016 Chevrolet Camaro: Top 5 Features

The all-new 2016 Chevrolet Camaro that launched in May is already fast-becoming our favorite car ever at Reichard Chevrolet. Here are its top five features for the sixth generation:

1 – A Brand New V6

Though the 2016 Camaro also offers a turbocharged four-cylinder as well as its most powerful V8 ever, our favorite new engine is the direct-injected 3.6-liter V6. It provides a great compromise between grunt and efficiency, with variable valve timing pushing horsepower up to 335 and cylinder deactivation technology improving mileage.

2 – Drive Mode Selector

The 2016 Camaro gets a nifty new Drive Mode Selector with several settings: Snow/Ice, Tour, Sport, and Track on the SS model. They automatically alter throttle response, transmission shift programs, steering feel, exhaust note, stability control, suspension damping, and even ambient interior light settings depending on how you want to drive!

3 – Hot New Design

Both in and out, the new Camaro dazzles. The exterior has been refined for better aerodynamic efficiency and SS models in particular get a lot of love, with brake cooling ducts at the front and engine cooling vents in the hood. Inside, the gauge cluster and materials have been improved and we love the controls for the ventilation system.

4 – Aluminum Suspension

Multi-link McPherson strut front suspension and five-link independent rear suspension make the Camaro feel light and nimble when it needs to be—oh, and the whole car shed about 200 pounds thanks to aluminum suspension components. Not bad!

5 – All-New Platform

The car isn’t just 200 pounds lighter—it’s also about 28 percent stiffer thanks to an all-new rear-wheel-drive platform that focuses on improved ride and handling. It’s also made the Camaro a bit smaller overall, which helps it better cut through the air.
